Sera Mod (Alpha)

I’d like to try to be more proactive about releasing large mods-in-progress incrementally for those who are interested in them, rather than potentially just letting them languish on my hard drive for months to years. So, here’s the landing page for the great big Sera Mod in-progress. Main goals for the project:

  • cut back on the internalized elf-racism… because it’s a lot…
  • remove Sera’s transphobic comments where possible
  • replace ableist responses and misleading dialogue wheel paraphrases where possible

Pie-in-the-sky dreaming it will also prove feasible to steal from other romance cutscenes to restore some parity to Sera’s romance moments. Like the dance scene, that got, cut off, before, the dancing part?? Thanks, I hate it.

      • Restored several cut inquisitor lines that play when suggesting roof time: “Cookies on the roof?”, “Biscuits on a building?”, “Wafers up the rafters?”, “Buns on the battlements?”, and “Scones on our home?”
      • Removed the approval +/- from “You’re different for an elf”/”It’s nice knowing other elves”

      • Sera’s “I thought it would be bigger” plays out the same for a female inquisitor as it does for a male inquisitor, because dick jokes just really aren’t that complicated.

      • Altered the paraphrase for “Sure, why not? I glow” to reflect the spoken dialogue as “Yes I am” made it unclear you weren’t actually agreeing you were the Herald of Andraste
      • “Your people? Elves?” now properly excised from all dialogue branches, as I’d missed one

      • On second thought, completely removed the condescending wheel option to kick Sera out of the Inquisition, because what the fuck.
      • Breakup branch altered:
        • Paraphrase changed from “We need to talk” to “This isn’t working” as variations on “we should talk” in most romances lead into the romance hub, not the breakup branch.
        • “Haha oops just kidding” option to back out of the branch removed now that the intent has been clarified.
        • You can no longer kick Sera out of the Inquisition while breaking up with her, because honestly what the fuck.
      • “I get why you’re an odd elf” dialogue option should only play once, rather than cluttering up the dialogue wheel until you repeat it. (does not work on existing saves where the dialogue option has already been taken once, even though it should. don’t have a good save handy to confirm it works the first time around, even though it should.)

      • You won’t see the option to kick Sera out of the Inquisition unless her disposition is hostile

      • Sera now reacts to elves and dwarves with the same “all that talk and then you’re just a person” line she gives humans (thanks to dalishious for making that very good point!)
      • The Inquisitor’s “Your people? Elves?” and Sera’s “No, silly, elves aren’t people!~” exchange is skipped because honestly it was forced anyway

      • Removes the “He’s a she” line the first time you talk to Sera in WEWH. Skips straight to her secondary introduction of “Is this it? I’m waiting for the party to start” instead.
